Summer Saviours

Lets face it as the warmer days get more frequent and summer holidays are looming (not for me, boo!) the products we use change a little bit. I know for me my skin is so dry in the winter and I have to use a mixture of hydrating products to keep it looking okay but in the summer it seems to be more “normal” and I can go a day or two without putting night cream on and it’s not the end of the world.

I’m one of those people who usually cannot go a day without foundation as although I don’t suffer that badly with spots I do have some uneven patches and also some discolouration under my eyes. I’m trying to find a healthy balance between feeling confident but comfortable and wearing a full coverage foundation in a heat wave is not comfortable so recently I’ve been using Origins Vitazing SPF15 Tinted Moisturizer and if I’m honest I can’t believe how much less hassle it is than foundation. Don’t get me wrong I will bother with foundation for occasions throughout the summer but for everyday wear this is the one for me as its so quick to apply and gives a really natural look. It doesn’t come in different shades as it’s just a sheer tint release so I guess it just adapts to your skin tone, I think this is better as most people get a little darker in the sun. I for one have a got a little darker (or redderrrrr ooops) and to help with this I’ve been moisturising my body daily, this is something I NEVER do but this year I’d actually quite like to tan instead of going red, then peeling and going back to my paleness again. My moisturiser of choice has been Soap & Glory The Righteous Butter as it has shea butter in which is great for hydrating the skin and aloe vera for soothing, although I have been adding extra Holland and Barrett Aloe Vera Gel into the tub as I’m quite sunburnt at the moment. I’ve found this has been working really well and is effectively an aftersun but it means I can try to use up my never-ending supply of body butter.

I always like having a summer fragrance, last year it was Estee Lauder Bronze Goddess and that’s definitely still a firm favourite in my collection but this year I’m loving Escada Sorbetto Rosso, it’s a tropical melon-y smell. I’m also enjoying a perfume my best friend bought me for my birthday – Body Shop Japanese Cherry Blossom Strawberry Kiss and am currently alternating between wearing these two daily. I’m really bad at painting my toe nails as I HATE how my toes look but a comment from someone about them not wearing sandals unless their nails were done made me think I should make more of an effort so I found a nice colour in my stash and actually my toes look much less ugly now… I mean they aren’t pretty but whose are? The nail polish I have been using is OPI International Crime Caper.

I hope you’ve enjoyed the little round-up of the products I’ve been using recently and if you have any summer suggestions then let me know in the comments. I’d really love to interact more with my readers.
