February Favourites (and my first blog post)

Hello everyone!

I can’t believe I’m writing my first blog post. Please feel free to leave a comment on anything you’d like to see me write about on here and also any tips you have for this newbie.

Anyway lets get into my February Favourites.

I’ll start off with beauty items because those are the products I’m most excited about. I was really excited to see the Gwen Stefani range being released by Urban Decay and am still lusting after that eye shadow palette but sadly I can’t justify another in my collection right now. However I can definitely justify my millionth lipstick because its accompanied by a product that in general is new to me. I decided I had to get something from this range and the packaging of the lipstick and lip liner drew me in like a magpie. I chose the Ex-Girlfriend shade as I knew it would be the one I’d get the most wear out of and I thought I’d take a chance and purchase the lip liner too. I haven’t regretted it one bit and have been really loving the combination of these. Lip liners as I mentioned previously are new to me but I really do think they help improve the longevity of the lipstick and make your lips look much more polished and perfect.

I don’t know if its just me but throughout the winter months my skin type changes so many times. I go through periods of being hideously spotty, then to really dry skin and then to oily. Generally I do have combination skin that is at its best in the spring or early autumn months when the weathers not to hot or cold. Anyway back in December when I was throwing a tantrum one morning about how my make up looked so awful on my skin, my sister who luckily is as ghostly pale as I am suggested I borrow her L’oreal Infallible Matte foundation in the shade 10 Porcelain. I was amazed, even though my skin was dry and spotty the foundation didn’t cling to the extra extra dry patches around my nose and on my cheeks and it was so buildable so I was easily able to cover my beasty spots. Since then I have been using that foundation non-stop but this month my skin has been the most well-behaved it has in a long time and the foundation is helping it look really quite clear. Another product which I think has contributed to my clearer looking skin this month is the N07 Hot Cloth Cleanser, in my opinion it smells really luxurious and leaves my face feeling extra clean and soft. I feel cream cleansers such as this one are great for when you are having dry skin days as they feel like they’re giving some moisture back to your skin as well as cleansing it.

I love make up and all the different looks it allows us to create but some mornings when I’ve spent to long in bed wishing that I could stay there all day cuddling my cat Millie (crazy cat lady alert!), I just can’t be bothered with the effort of getting multiple brushes out and blending eye shadows but still want a little something on my eyes. This month the lazy girl in me has been satisfied by the Maybelline Color Tattoo eye shadows which in fact I have had for a well over a year but have been hidden at the back of my make up drawer. I’ve in particular been loving the shades Bad to the Bronze and Barely Branded, both together and separately. They also make great bases for powder shadows too. Another rediscovery for me in terms of eye make-up is the Tarte Lights, Camera, Flashes mascara. I love a mascara that both lengthens and gives volumes and this does achieve both of those things. I’ve had this for a while, probably longer than I should have but use it sparingly as its not a brand that easily accessible in the UK.

Can I include valentines day as a favourite? Well it definitely was my favourite valentines day yet. I had a lovely evening with my boyfriend and we finally tried Bella Italia’s gorgeous food which we’ve been meaning to get round to for ages. I also got completely and utterly spoilt with prosecco, flowers, a tatty teddy bear, a locket that I will treasure forever and the Paco Rabanne Lady Million perfume. Its a real treat receiving perfume as its something I very rarely buy for myself and this one is lovely and extremely long wearing to the point that I can also smell it after applying it three or four hours ago. Usually with others the smell wears off and other people can faintly smell it but I never can.

Fashion favourites for this month have to be high necked jumpers in general but especially this oversized one from New Look, great for concealing the food baby! I’ve been pairing it with either black or dark denim jeans and these tan ankle boots that I also purchased from New Look at the beginning of the month and haven’t taken off since. The boots are real leather and were reduced from £40 to £12 in the sale, I rarely find fashion bargains as good as this so was super excited! Word of advice, if you decide to order the jumper definitely order smaller than you think you’ll need… I’ve got a small in this and its still oversized, I’m never a small in anything!

A random favourite this month is coconut oil, I’ve been using it for a couple of weeks for teeth whitening. I will be writing a full post of coconut oil and the different ways I use it.

What have you been loving this month? Have you tried any of the products that I have included in my favourites? I’d love to know.
